Job Title: Orthopaedic Arthroplasty (Total Joint) Surgeon
Location: LSU, New Orleans, LA
Position Summary: The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in the School of Medicine at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana is seeking a BE/BC (or equivalent) surgeon with fellowship training in total joints for an academic faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor (clinical, non-tenure track); academic rank will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and stature in the field. We are seeking an exceptional Total Joint Surgeon to join our team in providing high-quality, compassionate care to the vulnerable patients of Louisiana. The ideal candidate will focus on developing a thriving elective total joint practice while addressing complex joint revisions and prosthetic joint infections. This position also offers opportunities for teaching, research, and leadership within a dynamic academic and clinical environment.
Responsibilities:
• Build and manage a busy elective total joint practice, delivering high-quality care to diverse and underserved populations.
• Develop a strong referral base for joint revision surgeries.
• Serve as an expert in prosthetic joint infections, creating and implementing a comprehensive care algorithm for the hospital system.
• Establish and lead a multidisciplinary total joint team to ensure cohesive and patient-focused care.
• Actively participate in the education of medical students and residents, fostering a culture of learning and clinical excellence.
• Pursue clinical or translational research opportunities to advance the field and support departmental academic goals.
• Collaborate with faculty and hospital leadership to enhance care delivery and outcomes for total joint patients.
Qualifications:
• Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
• Board certification or eligibility (or equivalent) in Orthopedic Surgery.
• Fellowship training in Adult Reconstruction/Total Joint Replacement
• Expertise in prosthetic joint infection management and complex revision arthroplasty.
• Licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana and credentialed with all required entities before date of hire
• Dedication to teaching, mentoring, and professional development.
• Strong commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, and collaborative care

• Enjoy traumaplasty and support the trauma service in the care of peri-prosthetic fractures.
Preferred Qualifications:
• A track record of academic achievement, including peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national or international meetings.
• Experience in medical education and mentoring, with interest in curriculum development or academic leadership roles.
• Interest or experience in clinical research, health outcomes research, or innovations in total joint surgery techniques.
